A little history:

In September 2015, Jennifer Bourne, RGN, Queens Nurse, Project Manager, Department of Health FGM Prevention Programme presented at the joint collaborative conference between the RCN and Travel Health Training, the Highs and Lows of Travel on 19th September 2015.  To see resources from this event see HERE.  Jennifer then also spoke at the Faculty of Travel Medicine Annual Symposium together with friend and colleague Leyla Hussein who is an anti-FGM campaigner, a psychotherapist and co founder of Daughters of Eve.  This is a UK-based non profit organisation that works to protect girls and young women who are at risk from female genital mutilation. To read more information about Leyla see here  and here

  • Channel 4 documentary ‘The Cruel Cut’ was a passionate, exuberant exploration of the complex world of Female Genital Mutilation but is unfortunately no longer available online in full.  Here is a trailer.  However there is a TED talk from Leyla Hussein who presented the documentary, talking on the subject and if you search on YouTube there are more.
